Why someone would say because you added adventure it wasn't a Regency romance, I cannot understand. Regency is a time period, and yes a genre, but genres are changing all the time. If every Regency sounded like a Heyer, than sales would certainly lag off. My first historical...I love the research part, too. My first historical set in the US at the start of the Revolutionary War was written while I was still on dial up for email and Google wasn't the powerhouse it is now. I did a lot of my research in the Bowdoin College Library in Brunswick Maine and of course, dozens of field trips to Boston. <br /><br />I've heard the advice about sticking to a genre so you won't disappoint readers, but I have ideas everywhere and the voices don't stay silent just because I ignore them.
